After grief, vulnerability and a deeply personal EP, Niniola is back where she belongs: making us move.

Niniola is dancing again. And honestly, that might be the best plot twist!
The AfroHouse queen has returned with “Tika,” a fast paced, dancefloor ready single that feels less like a reset and more like Niniola remembering exactly who she is. Released on DSPs on September 25, the track arrives just weeks after her deeply personal Without You EP, a project born from the loss of her husband and longtime manager, Michael Ndika.

Ndika died in May 2026 after 13 years of marriage to Niniola. His death forced the singer into a very public season of grief, while also creating a professional absence because he had been closely involved in her career. In August, she released Raining (O Dun Mi), turning that pain into music. The subsequent Without You EP went even deeper, exploring loss, memory, love and healing.
Then came Tika. And suddenly, the tempo changes. Built around driving percussion and Niniola’s unmistakable vocal energy, Tika brings her back to the AfroHouse sound that helped make her one of Nigeria’s most recognisable voices in the genre. This is the Niniola of Maradona, Designer and peak dancefloor mischief, but with a noticeably different context.
Returning to joy after grief does not mean the grief disappeared. Sometimes it means you have found another language for living with it. Tika feels like that language. It also feels suspiciously like a teaser. The timing, the visual rollout and the deliberate return to her signature sound suggest that Niniola may be opening the door to a bigger creative chapter. There is no need to over-explain it yet. For now, the message is wonderfully simple; Niniola is back in her bag and it is what Michael would have wanted, or her to NEVER stop singing.

We can’t wait for what unfolds after Tika.
