Spotify is bringing three of the UK’s most exciting artists back to where it all started. The streaming giant has announced Hometown, a new live series that will see Jorja Smith, Nemzzz and Beabadoobee headline intimate, one-night-only shows in the places that shaped their careers.
First up is Jorja Smith in Walsall on September 6, followed by Nemzzz in Manchester on September 12 and Beabadoobee in London on September 17. The shows will be reserved for each artist’s top Spotify listeners before being released globally as exclusive concert films.

But this is more than Spotify turning streams into a cute fan experience. Hometown taps into something increasingly valuable in pop culture: belonging. In an era where algorithms can make an artist global overnight, Spotify is putting the spotlight back on the streets, communities and people that helped build them.

The timing is also delicious. Smith’s new album What Are The Odds arrives August 21, Nemzzz drops Locked In on September 4, and beabadoobee’s Pylon follows September 18.
Spotify is also backing community initiatives and youth organisations in each city, giving the homecoming concept some actual substance.
