The Temper Trap Are Back With Sungazer and Indie Nostalgia Just Got a Grown Up Upgrade

If you ever screamed Sweet Disposition like your life depended on it, prepare to feel something deeper. The Temper Trap are officially back and they are not chasing nostalgia. They are rewriting it.

After nearly a decade away from album mode, the Aussie indie heroes have announced Sungazer, their fourth studio project, arriving July 10, 2026.

The band stepped back in 2018, citing burnout and a need to live actual life. Members scattered across continents, building solo projects, families, and entirely new perspectives. Now they are back with what they call their most honest and “pure” body of work yet.

At the heart of Sungazer is emotion that hits different. The title track is a promise from frontman Dougy Mandagi to his son, written before he was even born. It is soft, heavy, and quietly devastating.

Sonically, the album stretches. Indie rock meets electronic textures. Intimate moments swell into arena-ready crescendos. It is the same band that gave us timeless festival anthems, just older, wiser, and more intentional.

Early singles like Lucky Dimes, Into The Wild, and Giving Up Air have already set the tone, teasing a project that feels both familiar and evolved. The Temper Trap are not here to relive their peak. They are here to prove they never left.
