A new single, a different label credit and fans wondering if the Mavin era is officially over.

Afrobeats fans woke up to a small detail that quickly turned into big industry speculation. Nigerian singer Crayon may have quietly parted ways with Mavin Records and the internet is already doing the math.

The conversation started after Crayon released a new single titled “Baami.” What caught fans’ attention was not just the music but the label credit attached to the release. Instead of the familiar Mavin Records imprint that has backed the artist since 2019, the track appears under a different outfit called Olodum Ent.
That tiny line in the release information sent social media into full investigation mode.

Crayon has been one of the bright voices from Don Jazzy’s talent factory over the last few years. Since joining Mavin Records in 2019, he has delivered fan favorites like “Ijo (Laba Laba)” and “Ngozi,” building a reputation for high energy Afropop and feel good melodies that sit comfortably on the global Afrobeats wave.
Now the sudden shift in label credit has fans asking the obvious question. Did Crayon quietly exit the Mavin building?
So far there has been no official confirmation from either Crayon or Mavin Records founder Don Jazzy. That silence has only fueled speculation across music Twitter and fan forums.

If the reports turn out to be true, it would mark another interesting chapter in the evolution of Nigeria’s most influential label. Mavin has built a reputation for launching stars and shaping the modern Afrobeats landscape. For now the situation remains a maybe, not a definite.
But in an industry where contracts end quietly and independence is the new flex, fans are watching closely. Because if Crayon really has stepped out of Mavin, the next era of his career might just be underway.
