Nasty C Reloads ‘Free’ With a Deluxe Drop and the Ivyson Era Keeps Expanding

New tracks, bigger energy and proof that independence is looking very good on the South African rap star.

South African rap heavyweight Nasty C is not done with Free yet. In fact, he is doubling down.

The Durban born rapper has officially expanded his fifth studio album with Free (Deluxe), a fresh edition that adds new material and extends the life of one of the most talked about hip hop projects to come out of Africa in the past year. Nasty C dropped the original Free in September 2025 as his first major independent album after leaving Def Jam, marking a new chapter under his own imprint, Tall Racks.

The original project already carried serious momentum. Within two days of release it crossed one million Spotify streams and eventually topped Apple Music charts in over a dozen countries while charting in more than 45 territories worldwide.

Now the deluxe version stretches the experience even further. The expanded project pushes the tracklist past twenty songs, keeping fan favorites like “Leftie (Dlala Ngcobo),” “Shmokin,” and “Head Up” while adding new cuts that continue the album’s theme of artistic freedom.

That theme is not accidental. Nasty C has been vocal about what the project represents for him creatively. The rapper describes the album as an exploration of freedom, experimenting with different sounds while blending hip hop with elements of house, R&B and even traditional Zulu influences.

In other words, Free is not just a title. It is a mission statement. Tthe deluxe release feels like a victory lap for an artist who has spent nearly a decade evolving from teenage prodigy to one of Africa’s most globally recognized rappers.

And if this expanded version proves anything, it is that Nasty C is not just chasing freedom. He is building an empire with it.
